Hi all, I hope you are having a great new year!

It has been a while since I last posted on my personal blog and now I am back. I have a lot of things to talk about and I will be posting about these in the following days, and change this blog considerably.

For now, I would like to talk about a special offer from one of my friends (Joshua), from the Warrior Forum.

When I visited Namecheap today to check whether a domain name was already taken or not, I noticed their latest great offer. I will talk about this in a moment, but let me first mention why I would bother posting about Namecheap’s offer.

I have been a loyal customer of Namecheap for more than two years and I have about 10 domains registered with them. I can honestly recommend them due to the following reasons:

Their prices are at market average, if not lower.

I didn’t have a problem with any of my domain names since I have been a customer of them.

They have wonderful live chat support.

They run contests and giveaways regularly.

Finally, I like their site layout; nice and easy to use.

Ok, let me come back to their latest offer. Namecheap is very close to reach 2,000,000th domain and they are celebrating this by a great contest. They will give 10 times back on the order amount to the person who registers 2,000,000th domain.

They will also be giving away 100 domain credits of $10.16 for every 10th registered domain after the 2,000,000th. Click the banner above to learn all the details about this great contest and try your chance to be the lucky domainer.

Actually, I was about to purchase two new domain names for my newest projects and I will wait and see if I can get that 2,000,000th domain. This will be fun.

Have a nice day all!

I have been a loyal follower of his blog and I can say that I have learned many things from him and his guest bloggers, that helped me improve my blogging.

Today, I was really happy to get an email from Darren, talking about their latest eBook, ProBlogger’s Guide to Blogging for Your Business, written by Mark Hayward, which was to be launched in a few hours. Hopefully, I will be among the first ones to get the eBook as I believe it will be another gold nugget from ProBlogger. And once I do that I will post my review below.

At this point all I can say from what I see on the sales page is that this eBook targets Business Owners who want to use blogs in the most effective way. It is 140+ pages packed with high quality content from successful business owner, blogger and blog coach – Mark Hayward. You can see all the details here.

by Mark Hayward from ProBlogger

My Review of ProBlogger’s Guide to Blogging for Your Business

I was able to grab a copy of “ProBlogger’s Guide to Blogging for Your Business” today and below, you will read my honest review about it. Just before I start, let me mention that as I do in all my reviews, my purpose with this review is not to help the eBook sell, but to help you better understand it before you make your decision.

I will start with showing proof that I actually purchased the eBook myself, as I will never promote a product that I haven’t personally bought and tried.

Ok, now let me continue with my review.

When I completed the purchase, I was taken to a page with a download link to ProBlogger’s Guide to Blogging for Your Business in .pdf format and an Unannounced Bonus about an invitation to join to a special bonus newsletter just for the buyers of this eBook. I must admit that getting unexpected bonuses is a great thing to have and I will be looking forward to it.

I downloaded the eBook quickly, as I was pretty curious to read it to all the details as quickly as possible to see what’s inside. And below, I will try to summarize what I found.

First of all, this is a 143-page, very nicely designed eBook and I like to read nicely-designed eBooks very much. I have to mention that although I would like to do it very much, I cannot share any specific parts or screenshots from the eBook as this will be unfair.

After the brief background stories of Darren Rowse -the man behind ProBlogger- and Mark Hayward -the author of this eBook-, Mark starts with talking about the most important reasons why a business or individual should have a blog. Mark then lists all the possible excuses a blogging newbie could have and explains how he was able to get rid of them in a short time.

The eBook consists of 12 comprehensive chapters, detailing every aspect of blogging for businesses and blogging in general, and I will briefly talk about each chapter without revealing too much information since it will not be fair for the ones who already purchased it.

1. Defining Blogging and How It will Benefit You

In the first chapter, Mark talks about the many different purposes of using a blog and how building a blog for the right purpose can benefit you and your business. He explains how you create solid relationships and gain trust of your visitors/followers and customers by blogging. He also emphasizes the power of blogs as a marketing tool, if used properly.

As for the tutorial of the first chapter, you will be going through a step by step action plan from competition research to conceptualizing the focus of your blog.

2. Defining Your Goals

Mark clearly emphasizes the importance of defining some goals for your blog before taking any further action. He lists a number of possible goals you might want to achieve with your blog and helps you decide on the ones that will help you/your business the most.

In the second chapter’s tutorial, Mark tries to help you set your goals by asking the most important questions you should ask to yourself before getting started.

3. Getting Started with Blogging

After the preliminary research, brainstorming and focusing on the concept of your blog, in this chapter Mark goes through every important step of starting a blog for your business, in detail. He discusses the options for integrating your blog to your existing website and some important factors you should take into account. He closes this chapter by a very detailed section about choosing a blogging platform for your blog.

The tutorial part of this chapter will be your first major steps for building your blog.

4. Deciding on and Registering a Domain Name

For me, one of the most important parts of building a blog is deciding on its name and finding a suitable domain name. Start with the right name and your blog might work wonders, start with the wrong name and your blog might get lost in the dust.

Mark shares his own methodology on deciding on a name by providing his reasons and then he talks about the important aspects of choosing and registering a domain name and getting web hosting.

By the end of the 4th tutorial, you will have decided on your blog’s name, registered a nice domain name for it and hosted it.

5 & 6. Installing WordPress - WordPress Plugins

As someone who has a lot of experience with WordPress (the best blogging platform in my opinion), I skipped chapter 5 and 6 quickly, but I will give you an idea here. Mark demonstrates installing WordPress, optimizing it for search engines, choosing a theme and configuring all the necessary plugins for security, tracking, SEO and other things step by step in detail.

7. Developing a Content Strategy and Editorial Calendar

Now you have your blog ready to go and here comes the most crucial part: Content Strategy. Mark explains in detail how you will establish your content strategy for the most effective way of blogging. Starting with your goals, Mark points out each important part of a blog and a blog post and gives examples for the best practices.

Honestly, I never thought of having a content strategy like Mark is suggesting in his eBook. After going over this chapter, now I better understand the importance of it.

The tutorial of this chapter is the most important part of the whole eBook and I highly suggest you absorb it to the fullest extent.

8. Developing Content Ideas and Fighting Blogging Frustration

Developing content ideas was one of the fields that I had the most difficulty with when I first started blogging. Mark provides a nice way for this and explains how you should form your posts to get the most out of your blog. He splits the blog content to a number of categories and gives many ideas about what to write in each category. He also provides a list of 52 creative blog post ideas and even if you made one post a week, this would be enough for a year!

9. Publishing Your First Blog Post

Your first blog post is the vital part and mostly it will be the determining factor whether you will continue or quit. Mark goes over each step in detail from crafting the post title to optimizing images for SEO.

10. Finding Readers and Traffic for Your Blog

Now that you have your blog and published the first post, it is time for you to attract visitors to it. Making your blog visible and getting traffic is the most difficult part of blogging when you first start. Mark provides a lot of solid ways to generate traffic to your blog and following his advice, you will soon start to get visitors to your blog.

11. Optimizing Flickr and YouTube for Your Blog’s Online Presence

In fact, I haven’t used Flickr and YouTube in my blogging projects until now but thanks to Mark now I better understand the power of them and I will certainly start using them. He demonstrates how to use Flickr and YouTube in connection to your blogging in detail with some very nice tips.

12. Creating Your Social Media Footprint and Measuring Your Blogging ROI

The final chapter focuses on establishing a proper social media presence for yourself/your business and evaluating your blogging so that you can improve it to get better results. Take this chapter seriously as it will be very helpful to growing your blog and business.

At the end of his eBook, Mark provides a list of most successful bloggers around the world and their key posts related to blogging and I am sure that I will bookmark them all myself!

What I liked the most about the ProBlogger’s Guide to Blogging for Your Business is that while explaining all the related concepts and strategies in detail, it also provides tutorials so that you can follow key tasks while you learn from the eBook, and examples to better understand each concept. This is something you will not easily find in all the eBooks around the market today.

Another point that I liked is that Mark provides external free resources such as related blog posts or videos as necessary so that you will have a better grasp of the topic.

In conclusion, I am glad that I purchased this eBook and as an intermediate blogger, I can say that by reading it I added a lot of important points to my knowledge base. Hopefully, you have a better idea about this eBook now and I highly recommend it to all business owners, all internet marketers and anyone who wants to start a new blog.

One of the neverending discussions on the internet marketing grounds is choosing the best domain name for your niche website. Many things have been said about this and there are many different opinions. In fact, there is no right way to go when deciding on a domain name as long as you focus on the content and marketing of the site.

I want to give an example here: ICanHasCheezburger.com may sound a very nonsense domain name at first; however, the site is one of the most successful fun sites and being visited by millions of people each month.

You can build your site around whatever domain name you like and make it a great site. However, if you want to target mainly search engine visitors, then your domain name should be search engine friendly to some extent.

As you all know, one of the main ranking factors that search engines check about a website is its domain name. The more related your domain name to your target keyword, the higher your site will rank in the search engines (unless it has rubbish content). So, including your target keyword in the domain name is a very good idea to start with.

For example, if your niche is audio books than going for a domain like audiobooks.com is a very good idea. This is called an exact match domain name. (I know that domain is not available, just giving an example here.) And depending on the competition in your niche, the exact match domain name may not be available for registration.

Most of the .com domains are already taken for almost all the niches you can think of thanks to fellow internet marketers. But, sometimes, it is possible to find the .net or .org version of that domain name available.

So, the question is which one would you choose in that case?

keywordblog.com vs. keyword.net/org

If you have made some preliminary research before landing on this post, I am pretty sure that you’ve read many different arguments. And the truth is, there really is no best way. Some internet marketers will claim that it is always best to go for the exact match domain whether it is a .com or .net, some others will say that having an additional word like blog, tips or guide will be just as good. Some wouldn’t register a .net domain if its .com version is already taken, some would go for a .net domain and build a very popular authority site around it. It all comes to how you develop and promote your website.

What Would I Choose?

I have registered some .net domains in the past, but at one point I decided to go with only .coms if I can because having a .com website sounds much better to me. I might add blog or another word depending on the nature of the site and how relevant that site will be to my niche.

In conclusion, it is not so good to waste a lot of time on choosing a domain name. Make your market and keyword research properly, find an acceptable keyword rich domain name (better if you can find an exact match, but don’t limit yourself to it), build a quality website and profit.

So, which one would you choose?

I have been involved with internet marketing in the last three years and I have found thousands of great websites from which I learned many things about internet marketing, online business and making money online in general. And in this post, I want to talk about one of those sites that has a very special place in my internet marketing journey.

Forums and blogs are two of the best type of websites when it comes to ask and learn from others, where you can be a part of community to share your knowledge and learn from others’ experiences. Especially in internet marketing, where there are no certain rules or formulas about how to make money, reading what fellow marketers have to say and following their advice is the best way to get you started.

There are probably hundreds of internet marketing forums around the web today; though, for me, only a few of them are worth to read and be a part of. Only a few of them are full of people who thrive to help others get on the board and start their internet marketing journey.

Warrior Forum, as you might already know, is one of the most popular internet marketing forums on the internet and for me it is the best. It has more than 300,000 members many of which are extremely experienced internet marketers and some of them are the authorities in this field. The forum has over 3 mil posts, most of which can be counted as goldmines for everyone that is related to internet marketing somehow.

Warrior Forum is more like an educational institute which teaches all sorts of making money online and offline and all the details you will need along the way. It is an open environment where people learn by helping others and help more once they learn more from others. It will definitely be my #1 resource to refer a person who wants to start making money online.

It is not only a place where you ask questions and learn, it is also a great place to offer your services and products. There is section called as “Warrior Special Offers” and experienced internet marketers sell their products about making money online and related things as a WSO. I know many fellow warriors make tens of thousands of dollars a month just by running WSOs and helping others get their feet wet.

There is only one issue that I can tell about Warrior Forum, which is the information overload. Yes, with the amount of information shared on the forum, you can easily get overloaded. Unfortunately, this is a big problem for all the beginners. But, there is also a way to overcome this:

Once you learn enough of the things that you will need, create an action plan and set your goals. With a proper action plan and well defined goals, if you take consistent action, there is no reason for you to reach the level of success you desire.

This is all I want to say about Warrior Forum, I am glad that it exists and I am glad that I found it at the very beginning of my internet marketing adventure.

Thank you all members of Warrior Forum!

Coupons are offered by online stores to attract more buyers, offering some kind of deals and discounts. Using coupon codes while shopping online is a great way to save money. If you are not using them, you might be losing money on the table. Actually, if you shop a lot online, you can save hundreds of dollars a month thanks to coupons since some of the companies offer up to 40% off their normal prices.

So, where to find coupons, deals and discounts?

There are a lot of websites that offer thousands of coupon codes from thousands of online stores. And you should make a habit of checking them before buying anything online. Because, keep in mind that many a mickle makes a muckle and by the savings you collect you could buy your other needs.

Recently, I came across a relatively new, fast growing coupon site, Coupon Chief, and here I will give some information about them.

I want to start with mentioning that they have a very neat site layout where you can find and apply coupons easily. They have over 50 thousand coupons for over 15 thousand stores in more than 20 categories like clothing, health, travel, electronics and hosting. To use the coupons on their site, you don’t need to have an account with them. Though, by creating a free account, you could setup email alerts for your favorite retailers and submit your own coupons. They are also accepting online stores to list their coupons.

Click the above image to visit Coupon Chief

There are two distinctive features of Coupon Chief that I want to briefly talk about. The first one is Pays-2-Share program in which you get paid for the coupons you find and add to their site. It simply works as follows: When you join their site and start to update coupon codes, you get 2% commission of the purchase price whenever someone visits the site and buys through your coupon. That’s a very nice feature for a coupon site.

The other feature is the Coupons-4-Causes program. With this program, you simply find your favorite school, church or charity and whenever you shop online, Coupon Chief makes a donation to your cause.

I am not a frequent online buyer but I do some purchases for my online business and for my clients in terms of hosting, domain registration, advertising and marketing services, design and graphics. Coupon Chief has a hosting coupons category, where you can find dozens of working coupons for the most popular web hosting companies such as Hostgator, Hosting24, Site5 and DreamHost.

Thanks for reading and see you on the next post.

When it comes to promoting affiliate products we can talk about two groups of marketers. The first group argues that it is not necessary to have the product in order to successfully promote it. On the other hand, the second group of marketers argues that an affiliate marketer always should buy, try and evaluate the product, be it tangible or digital, before promoting it.

I am not sure to which group I belong but what I know from my experience is that you really don’t need to have the product in order to promote it successfully. (This depends on the product of course.)

For example, if you know a lot about the product and made your research about it properly, without buying it you can promote and recommend it to others. Especially, for physical products like the ones you can find on Amazon (kitchen supplies, tools, video games etc.), you can successfully make people buy that product even if you didn’t buy and try it.

However, for some certain product types, especially digital ones like informational products, software and services, my opinion is that you should have bought and tried it before actually promoting it. This is because without seeing what’s inside, you will not be able to honestly talk about the product, its features and benefits and whether you liked it or not.

Sadly, it is not rare to come across some marketers who promote products they have no idea about and try to make money out of it. What they do is they simply collect information and reviews from the web, other blogs and forums about the product and add them on their sites as if they were their own ideas. This kind of people also makes use of lies without hesitation.

Anyway, it is up to you whether you buy an affiliate product or not before you promote it. But even for physical products there are certain advantages of owning the product and I will mention them below.

The Advantages of Promoting a Product that You Have Bought and Tried

Do you remember how many times you have bought something after asking your friends’ opinions and feedback about it? Probably many times. Because, you want to hear from a person who actually bought and tried it.

If you apply this concept to your affiliate marketing practices, you will notice that when promoting products that you have tried, you will have a greater response rate from your readers. Simply because, if people trust you and care about your opinions, then they will follow your recommendations as well. This is a very valuable thing to have as an internet marketer.

By having the product you are promoting, you will have a better knowledge of it and you will be able to describe it better to your followers. Answering questions about the product will not be a problem either. Having a faith in yourself about the product you promote will bring you success.

After all, if you care about your visitors, and want them to come back and follow your recommendations, you should only promote quality products that you really think will help your readers. And you can only figure this out by actually trying it.

In conclusion, buying the product that you want to promote is totally optional, but do not let the cost of it scare you, because you could make much more from it if you buy, try and genuinely recommend it.

So, what do you think?

Just a few hours ago, I got an email from StumbleUpon, one of the most popular social sharing sites, with the same title as my post. If you remember, I had talked about my little test with StumbleUpon Ads in a previous post, where I mentioned that although the traffic flood was fast, the response rate was minimal.

Now, it seems that they have made some changes to their marketing platform and created the so called StumbleUpon Paid Discovery. So, what changes has been introduced to the system?

In the previous version, you could only create one type of campaign where you would pay $0.05 per visitor to your site. Now, you can create two additional types of campaigns which are named Standard ($0.10 per visitor) and Premium ($0.25 per visitor).

With the two new campaign types, you can target by device such as desktop browsers, iPhone, iPad or Android. That’s cool, isn’t it? You will also be able to get advanced reports about engagement metrics, traffic analysis and your website’s quality score. And most importantly, with the additional cost of these two campaign types, your stumbles will have serving priority to skip ahead in line.

On March 22nd, they will host a webinar for a detailed run through all the new features, you can register here.

Depending on your content, StumbleUpon could be a great source of traffic and going viral. Although my test with StumbleUpon Ads didn’t go well, I will soon give it another try with the StumbleUpon Paid Discovery and this time I will not use directly a landing page, instead, I will promote a post that has a chance of going viral.

I am sorry not. At least not for everyone.

When I first started internet marketing about two years ago, like many of the beginners I had a dream of being rich overnight. And I kept that dream alive for a long time to fuel my motivation towards making money online. I was in such a mood that I believed the more I read about making money with affiliate programs the more I would earn. But things didn’t work like this for me and I had to work really hard to even make my first dollar online.

At first look, making money with affiliate programs may sound very simple; find a product to promote, create a web page talking about it and let the money roll in while you are sleeping. This is what all the gurus want you to believe so that they can sell their products to you.

In fact, for some cases it is really easy, but not for everyone who starts affiliate marketing with the hope of making thousands of dollars in a short time without any effort.

Now, when I look back to my rookie days as an affiliate marketer, I realize many things that I did wrong and I also realize that I wouldn’t be where I am now without going through all those mistakes and failures. This is why in this post I want to share what I did wrong, why I failed at some cases and what I could do better so that you could benefit from a fellow internet marketer’s experiences.

Mistake 1: I Expected to Make Money Instantly

There is no push-button system which will make you rich overnight in the online world. But, almost every beginner, including me, want to believe there is. And this is the main mental obstacle in front of a newbie. Because in most cases, once it is clear that the money will not come in instantly, hopes fail and the motivation is lost.

When I first heard about I could make money by joining affiliate programs and promoting affiliate products, I quickly signed up for a few affiliate networks like Clickbank, Commission Junction and Linkshare and expected to earn some money just for joining. Can you believe that I frequently checked my income stats even without putting up an affiliate link? How many of you did the same thing?

Mistake 2: I Joined Every Affiliate Program I Could Find

Once I realized that I wasn’t making any money by joining only a few networks, I searched for more networks and other affiliate programs. My idea was the more networks/programs I joined, the more I would earn. And it was totally wrong. It was meaningless to join lots of affiliate programs before making any money with just one network/program. Because the more networks/programs I joined the more frustrated I became.

Mistake 3: I Didn’t Drive Traffic to My Web Pages

Then, at one point, I realized that I needed to build web pages to promote affiliate products. This was what everyone mentioned. I started with creating free blogs on sites like Blogger and Weebly and pages on sites like Squidoo and HubPages inserting my affiliate links and banners. Then I expected to see sales the next day.

I made zero sales in the next few weeks. It is quite predictable, right? I did nothing to drive traffic to my websites.

Mistake 4: I Didn’t Test and Optimize My Web Pages/ Websites

Meanwhile, I created my own websites as well. My next step was to put all my traffic generation knowledge into action using all the possible methods like article distribution, press releases, social media, directory submissions, RSS, web 2.0 and others. Only then my web pages and websites started to get some visitors.

In time, my traffic increased but I could generate only a few sales. There was still one missing piece, which was testing and optimization. And after going through each of my website and working on them to create better conversion rates, my sales increased as well.

That was the time when I started to see the big picture:

To successfully promote an affiliate product and make money, one should go through a number of steps like choosing a well performing product, creating a landing page that converts, driving traffic and optimizing. Each of these steps require expertise and without enough practice, it is very difficult to create a fully functioning system. That’s why making money with affiliate programs is not as easy as gurus claim.

I hope that my mistakes will be a guide to some of you. Mind sharing your mistakes and what you could do better in your affiliate journey?
